on Tuesday endorsed senior judge Ram Kumar Saha as the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court as recommended by the Constitutional Council (CC).
A meeting of the PHSC held in Singha Durbar on Tuesday gave a clean chit to Saha, after he provided clarification on a complaint filed against him and endorsed him as the Chief Justice.
Judge Saha defended himself against a complaint regarding his verdict on a case in which he had granted registration of a public plot in Sundhara in personal name, causing injustice to the Muslim community.
Saha said that the verdict was just and fair and there were no communal intentions presiding over his decision. If found guilty, he would leave office, Saha added.
During the hearing session, Saha admitted that corruption exists in the judiciary as well; however, he added that the level of corruption in the courts was minimal as compared to other government-bodies.
Saha said that he would make efforts to check malpractices of court-staff and law-professionals, who act as mediators in the judicial system, to minimise corruption if not completely stop it.
